Sound Familiar?

These are the things parents tell us every week. If you're nodding along, you're in the right place.

"He won't talk to me."

One-word answers. Closed doors. You know something's going on, but every time you try to reach him, he shuts down. That's not your failure — it's a stage where boys pull away from parents and look for other trusted voices.

"Always on his phone."

Gaming, scrolling, headphones on for hours. It feels like he's choosing a screen over family. The truth is, he's looking for connection and identity — and right now, the screen is the easiest place to find it.

"His grades are slipping."

You know he's capable. You've seen it. But the motivation disappeared. Often what's underneath is a young man who can't connect school to the future he wants.

"He's angry and I don't know why."

The outbursts, the short fuse, the attitude. Anger in young men is almost always something else wearing a mask — frustration, confusion, hurt. He hasn't learned how to name those feelings yet.

"He's not a bad kid — he just needs a broader team."

Safety & Trust

We don't ask you to trust us because we say nice things. Here's exactly how we protect your son.

National Background Check

Every mentor is screened through a national criminal database, sex offender registry, and county-level court records. No exceptions.

12+ Hours of Training

Before being matched: youth safety, mandatory reporting, trauma-informed communication, de-escalation, and boundary-setting. Ongoing, not one-time.

Supervised Locations Only

All sessions happen in approved, supervised spaces — community centers, libraries, and designated GS facilities. No private homes.

Two-Deep Leadership

No mentor is ever alone with a young man without another trained adult present or in direct line of sight.

You Meet the Mentor First

Before any one-on-one sessions begin, you and your son meet the mentor. If it doesn't feel right, we find someone else.

Reassignment on Request

Any time, for any reason. No waiting period, no guilt. The relationship has to feel right for everyone involved.

What Your Son Gets

Every program is free. Your son can participate in any or all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are mentors screened?

+
Every mentor completes a national background check (criminal database, sex offender registry, county court records), a minimum of 12 hours of training covering youth safety and trauma-informed care, and a personal interview with our leadership team. They are observed during early sessions and receive ongoing supervision.

How is my son matched with a mentor?

+
We consider your son's interests, personality, communication style, and your family's preferences. You and your son meet the mentor before sessions begin. If it's not the right fit, we'll find someone else immediately — no questions asked.

How often do they meet?

+
One-on-one sessions typically happen weekly or biweekly, depending on availability. Group sessions run on a regular schedule. We work with your family to find a rhythm that fits your life.

Can I meet the mentor first?

+
Absolutely. You will always meet the mentor before your son begins one-on-one sessions. We require it. You should feel 100% comfortable with the person spending time with your child.

What training do mentors receive?

+
A minimum of 12 hours covering youth safety and boundary-setting, mandatory reporting obligations, trauma-informed communication, de-escalation, cultural sensitivity, and active listening. Training is ongoing throughout their time as mentors.

What if the match isn't working?

+
You or your son can request a reassignment at any time. No waiting period, no guilt, no penalty. Relationships are personal — not every match will click. We'll find the right fit.

How will I know what's happening?

+
You'll receive regular updates after sessions covering what was discussed, how your son engaged, and any goals set. You can reach out to us anytime. Our communication is always open to parents and guardians.

What does it cost?

+
Nothing. The Gentleman's Syndicate is completely free for families. No registration fees, no material costs, no hidden charges. We are funded through grants, donations, and community support so that cost is never a barrier to mentorship.

Alongside Families, Not Instead of Them

We don't replace what you do at home. We add to it.

You Stay in the Loop

Regular updates, open communication, and full visibility into your son's mentorship. We have nothing to hide. You're welcome at any session, any time.

Your Values Matter

We learn about your family's values, goals, and concerns during intake. Everything we do with your son reinforces the foundation you've already built.

A Broader Team

Every young man benefits from having more invested adults in his life. That's not a reflection of what's missing at home — it's an addition to what's already there.

Character Development

This is not intervention. Not correction. Not a program for "problem kids." This is the same investment you'd make in sports, music, or academics — for the parts of life those don't cover.

"As he thinks... so he will be."

Take the First Step

Come to an info session. Meet our team. Ask every question you have. No commitment, no pressure — just a conversation about your son's future.
